At the October 17 meeting of the Presbytery of Middle Tennessee, the presbytery will consider eight overtures to the 222nd General Assembly (2016). These overtures grew out of discussion among mid-council leaders and others regarding amendments to the Constitution as well as how the General Assembly considers business and matters before the Church. The “Foothills Overtures” have been approved by the session of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Nashville, and will be presented for action by the presbytery on Oct. 17.
Warner Durnell, Executive Presbyter, and Therese Howell, Stated Clerk, will lead discussions on the overtures prior to the presbytery meeting for teaching and ruling elder commissioners to the upcoming October 17 meeting . Please review the overtures, and bring your questions and any concerns to any of the scheduled meetings. Each session will last for no more than 90 minutes, and will be a time of prayer, information, discussion, questions and answers.
